About Me

I’m Becca Boerma, a BFA graduate from Grand Valley State University with a dual emphasis in graphic design and ceramics. My work lives between digital and physical spaces, where material exploration and human-centered thinking comes together.

As a graphic designer, I work across branding, layout, UI/UX, and illustration, with experience designing for both print and digital production. I’ve spent several years freelancing alongside my academic work, creating everything from technical illustrations and marketing materials to full visual systems. I care deeply about clarity, accessibility, and designing work that feels welcoming rather than overly polished or corporate. Thoughtful typography, playful texture, and strong structure are recurring elements in my design practice.

In the studio, my ceramic work explores form, surface, and construction as a way to communicate personal and emotional experiences. Working in clay has shaped how I approach design as a whole. It has taught me patience, adaptability, and how to problem-solve through making. My background in ceramics informs my digital work, grounding it in process, material awareness, and intentional decision-making.

Whether I’m designing on a screen, leading a workshop, or building something by hand, I’m interested in creating work that bridges gaps between concept and experience, information and understanding, and idea and execution.
