Beneath the Skin: Pain Monsters
This sculpture series explores my experience with chronic pain, transforming invisible sensations into tangible "pain monsters." Each piece represents a specific area of pain in my body, with unique forms, textures, and mixed-media elements reflecting the physical and emotional weight of those sensations. The sculptures are intentionally sized to be held, emphasizing the intimate yet elusive nature of pain—always present but just out of reach. Bright, playful colors contrast with the discomfort they represent, while asymmetrical designs highlight the unpredictable and shifting nature of chronic pain. Each "monster" stands as an individual expression, yet together they form a collective narrative of resilience and the ongoing reality of living with pain. Through this series, I aim to give shape to the unseen and invite others to engage with the complexities of chronic pain in a tactile, visual way.
