Iron National Park Plaque
This Iron National Park Badge is part of an ongoing series exploring U.S. national parks through sculptural badges. For this piece, I used a sand mold that I carved by hand, allowing for a tactile, detailed representation of the park's unique features. Once the mold was ready, molten iron was poured in to cast the design, resulting in a sturdy, permanent form that contrasts the natural beauty of the park with the raw, industrial nature of the material. This project allowed me to continue my exploration of national parks while pushing my boundaries in both material and process. The iron’s durability reflects the timeless presence of these landscapes, capturing both their ruggedness and their lasting significance.
